These are fun to make by simply cutting leaf shapes from apple cinnamon dough!
We often make these Apple Cinnamon Ornaments and give them out as random acts of kindness throughout the holiday season too.

Supplies:
- 1 cup of applesauce
- 1.5 cups of ground cinnamon
- Leaf cookie cutters
- Bakers twine
- White dimensional paint
- Hot glue gun
- Rolling pin
- Parchment paper
- Baking sheet
One batch of dough makes approximately fifty small ornaments. It takes about thirty minutes to create and decorate the ornaments, minus the time to cook the dough.
Cinnamon ornament recipe:
Directions:
1. Slowly add the cinnamon to the applesauce until the mixture resembles play dough or sugar cookie dough.
2. Use cinnamon like you would flour when rolling out cookie dough. Dust your work surface and the rolling pin with cinnamon.
3. Roll out the apple cinnamon dough about 1/4 inch thick. Use the cookie cutters to cut out leaf shapes.
4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and bake the dough in a 200° oven for 1.5 hours. Check the underside of the ornament for doneness, the center will still be dark in color if it’s not completely baked.
5. Use the white puffy paint to create fun patterns and designs on each leaf.
6. Finally, glue a loop of bakers twine to the back for hanging.
So fun right?! This would be a great craft to do with the kids or grandkids!
CINNAMON ORNAMENT TIPS:
- Look for cinnamon in the dollar store or bulk section of the grocery store.
- Use small 1.5 inch cookie cutters for little ornaments that can be used to accent almost anything.
- Dough too dry? Add more applesauce.
- Dough too wet? Add more cinnamon.
- These do not rise or expand and can be placed very close together on the cookie sheet.
- Use cheap apple sauce and cinnamon as no one will be eating these, hopefully!
Try creating ornaments with this dough in other shapes and sizes, the possibilities are seriously endless!
