Let me show you how to make these adorable reindeer ornaments that make great Christmas decorations or gifts!
These cute cinnamon ornaments are a must make because they are super easy to create. We make cinnamon ornaments every year, in the past we’ve even created a Baby Yoda ornament and Chewbacca ornament!
These are fun to make by simply using a gingerbread cookie cutter and flipping it to look like a reindeer! Just like the cookies that you’ve seen all over the internet.
We often make these Apple Cinnamon Ornaments and give them out as random acts of kindness throughout the holiday season too.

Supplies:
- 1 cup of applesauce
- 1.5 cups of ground cinnamon
- Gingerbread cookie cutter
- Bakers twine
- White and black dimensional paint
- Red beads
- Hot glue gun
- Rolling pin
- Parchment paper
- Baking sheet
One batch of dough makes approximately twenty-five reindeer ornaments. It takes about thirty minutes to create and decorate the ornaments, minus the time to cook the dough.
Cinnamon ornament recipe:
Directions:
1. Slowly add the cinnamon to the applesauce until the mixture resembles play dough or sugar cookie dough.
2. Use cinnamon like you would flour when rolling out cookie dough. Dust your work surface and the rolling pin with cinnamon.
3. Roll out the apple cinnamon dough about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out gingerbread shapes.
4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and bake the dough in a 200° oven for 1.5 hours. Check the underside of the ornament for doneness, the center will still be dark in color if it’s not completely baked.
5. Use the white puffy paint to draw antlers, ears and eyes onto each reindeer. Use the black paint for eyebrows and a mouth.
6. Glue a red bead on the front for a nose. Finally, glue a loop of bakers twine to the back for hanging.
Super cute right?! This would be a great craft to do with the kids!
CINNAMON ORNAMENT TIPS:
- Look for cinnamon in the dollar store or bulk section of the grocery store.
- Use small 1.5 inch cookie cutters for little ornaments that can be used to accent almost anything.
- Dough too dry? Add more applesauce.
- Dough too wet? Add more cinnamon.
- These do not rise or expand and can be placed very close together on the cookie sheet.
- Use cheap apple sauce and cinnamon as no one will be eating these, hopefully!
Easy peasy! Try creating ornaments with this dough in other shapes and sizes, the possibilities are seriously endless!
