Tips and Tricks:
- Using a piping bag or pastry bag to pipe the donut shape into the pan makes the job simpler and less messy.
- Easily make a vanilla glaze by adding a touch of vanilla extract in with the milk. Or try a chocolate glaze for your donuts.
- Instead of glazing your donuts, coat them in cinnamon sugar while they are still warm.
- Be aware that, depending on the shape and size of your donuts, the baking time may vary.
- For best results, these donuts should be stored in an airtight container and eaten within 5 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
These days, it is relatively easy to find a special pan for making homemade donuts. If you can’t find one, or just want to save the money, I have some ideas for what to use as a donut pan substitute.
Alternatives to a Donut Pan:
- Create a makeshift donut pan using a muffin tin. Put a small ball of aluminum foil in the center of each muffin space. Pipe the donut batter around the foil and then bake in the muffin pan.
- Use small ramekins to bake the dough in.
- Form the dough into donut shapes on a baking sheet or tray.
- Make donut holes or mini donuts by piping balls of dough onto a cookie sheet.
These jam-filled treats are sure to be a hit with your loved ones! Be sure to check out these chocolate donuts or chocolate chip donuts too.
