This chocolate chip cookie recipe is super versatile and easy to make with only a few ingredients from the grocery store. Start with unsalted butter, granulated sugar, all purpose flour and a splash of vanilla extract.

This Cookie Monster recipe is so much fun for kids of all ages to make and take to parties or events. My kids enjoy the decorating part the most, second only to the eating part of course.

Ingredients:

Tip: pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough mix can be used as a base for these cookies as well. Short cuts like this are great when I’m in a hurry to make a quick treat.

Cadbury Mini Egg Cookie Process

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees f. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

2. In stand mixer or a large bowl with a hand mixer, cream together butter and sugar.

3. Add egg and vanilla, mix well on low speed.

4. Add dry ingredients, combine until a soft dough forms.

5. Fold in chocolate chips with a rubber spatula.

6. Drop 8 to 10 large scoops of dough onto the baking tray. Leave at least 2″ between the cookie dough balls.

Tip: I like to use a large cookie scoop for this.

7. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes or until the edges start to brown. Place on a cooling rack to allow the cookies to cool quickly.

8. In a small bowl, add blue food coloring to the frosting and mix well.

9. Scoop the frosting into a piping bag with 1A tip and cover each cookie with the icing.

Tip: a plastic bag with the tip cut off works too!

10. Roughly chop up the mini oreos and mini chocolate chip cookies.

11. Place the chopped up cookie pieces onto the blue frosting.

For chewier, softer cookies simply adjust the baking time and take the cookies out of the oven one minute sooner. Just be sure to allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating.

How to store these delicious cookies:

Store these sweet treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container at room temperature for a week or in the freezer for up to three months.

This recipe makes 8 delicious monster cookies with a fun pop of color! You have to agree that the kids would have a blast decorating these monster sized chocolate chip cookies!!
