Hey everyone! I pulled out the crochet hook for this free crochet satchel pattern that I am sharing today. It is the perfect size for kids! This crochet satchel is an easy project that works up very quickly and would make the perfect gift for your little one. Originally shared on Crafts Unleashed.
I love this super soft Folklore yarn. It comes in a wide variety of colors which makes personalizing this project a cinch. Simply grab your favorite color and start crocheting!

Crochet Satchel Pattern
Row 1: Start with a chain of 22 ch stitches. Work a dc into the second chain from the hook, dc in the next 20 st (20 total dc stitches).
Row 2: Turn, ch 2, dc back loop only until you reach the end of the first row, ending with a dc stitch (20 total dc stitches).
Row 3: Turn, ch 2, dc front loop only until you reach the end of the row, ending with a dc stitch (20 total dc stitches).
Row 4-28: Repeat Row 2 & 3. Finish off, weave in ends.
Strap: Start with a chain of 98. Work a dc into the second chain from the end, dc into the next 96 stitches. Finish off, weave in ends.
Step One. Complete the crochet pattern. Your crochet piece will be approximately 18″ long. Fold the bottom six inches up and using a yarn needle, sew the sides together.
Step Two. Attach the strap to the satchel. Use yarn and the yarn needle to sew the strap to the sides of the satchel.
Step Three. Weave in any loose ends of yarn.
Step Four. (Optional) Add embellishments like leather, clasps and charms.
I loved personalizing this bag with a few strips of leather woven into the crochet stitches. Adding a clip on lanyard with a variety of charms made this a hit with my guy too! He has already been toting this around the playground and filling it with all sorts of treasures. I hope that you like this crochet satchel pattern!
