I have been having a great time updating my living space this year. Lighter, brighter decor and colours abound. These fun DIY Rustic Arrows have been a huge part of my redecorating! I purchased the raw arrows from a super talented, local builder at I’m Board Rustic Creations. I love everything Lisa does and was grateful to be able to buy these arrows already made. All that was left to do was the fun part… staining and painting!
How to make DIY Rustic Arrow Wall Decor:
I actually bought several sizes of arrows from Lisa. I wasn’t sure where I would put them at the time, I just knew that I loved them! Now the finished arrows have become focal points in my home. I simply stained all of the arrows using varathane stain the same colour as the one on my refinished stairs.
I allowed the stain to dry for several hours.
Then I painted the arrows with regular ol’ white acrylic paint. After allowing that to dry I gave each arrow a bit of a sanding. You can totally sand them more or less depending on how distressed you want them to look. These would have looked great with just the stain too. Or painted a different colour? Like say, turquoise?!?
The smaller set of arrows ended up being a feature of my new gallery wall. They are about 12 inches by 18 inches each in size. I like the knots and imperfections that show through the paint. I also love how they add a spot of texture and interest to this wall.
The larger set of arrows that I created were added as the finishing touch to my entranceway. You can see them in the first photo of this post. They are about 18 inches by 22 inches each in size. I love them paired with my vintage window and spring wreath.
