We all have a guilty pleasure. Mine is that last little bit of batter left on the beaters when I’m making chocolate chip cookies or a pan of brownies.
But we’ve all read the warnings about eating raw cookie dough or raw brownie batter. That’s where this healthy brownie batter comes in.
Today’s fudgy edible brownie batter recipe is a delicious answer to your next chocolate craving. With its rich chocolate flavour and creamy cookie dough texture, this edible brownie dough is one of my favourite recipes!
The best part? With only a few simple ingredients, it comes together in no time! And if you think that these look good, be sure to try my cookie dough balls too!
Is brownie batter safe to eat?
Regular brownie batter or cookie dough is not safe to eat raw as it contains raw eggs and uncooked flour. Both may contain harmful bacteria like e. coli when not treated.
The no bake edible batter recipe does not contain eggs or untreated flour, making it safe to eat raw. These brownie bites are absolutely delicious and fun to make!

Tips and tricks:
- Substitute oat flour, or your preferred gluten-free flour, for wheat flour.
- To keep your edible brownie batter dairy-free, use almond milk or coconut milk in place of cow’s milk.
- Using coconut oil, instead of butter, and a dairy-free milk alternative turns it into a vegan edible brownie batter.
- This easy recipe can be made using an electric hand mixer or food processor.
- You can use any pre-packaged brownie mix or cookie mix you like for all kinds of edible dough. Your first step is still to treat the box mix though. Also, be sure to check the full list of ingredients on the package to be sure the mix meets any dietary restrictions you may have.
Optional add ins:
- Mini chocolate chips or chopped chocolate chunks.
- Chopped peanut butter cups are the best thing for that classic chocolate/peanut butter flavour combination.
- Nut butters, such as cashew butter or creamy almond butter, make perfect additions. You may need to adjust the milk to maintain your desired consistency.
- Try adding chocolate protein powder to the dry ingredients for a protein boost.
- Serve with ice cream for a really decadent treat!
How to store/package:
- An airtight container, or large bowl covered in plastic wrap, will keep this healthy edible brownie batter good in the fridge for up to one week.
- Freeze any leftover brownie batter in an ice cube tray for a quick treat any time.
- You can also flash-freeze spoonfuls of batter on a baking tray lined with parchment or wax paper to give you individual portions at your fingertips. Store them in a freezer bag, and these spoonfuls will keep for up to three months.
