I have been drinking Green Smoothies for a couple of years now. They are surprisingly more delicious than they look! This year I have incorporate our Green Smoothie Recipe into our meal planning and created a bunch of green smoothie freezer packs.
Green Smoothie Ingredients
2 cups fresh spinach
2 cups fresh fruit
2 cups water
2 tsp Greens vitamin mix {optional}
Blend. Makes two servings.
I always try to include pineapple because I love the flavour. Then I add whatever fruit that I have on hand and/or is in season. I like to use spinach too as I have found that it is not as strong tasting as kale or swiss chard.
I purchased a 40 oz bag of spinach at Superstore and a variety of fruit. It was enough to create 10 green smoothie freezer packs. I simply labelled a medium sized Ziploc bag, placed it into a medium bowl/cup and filled it with my ingredients {- the water}. Once filled I squeezed all of the air out of the bag and placed it in the freezer.
I love this method of preparing green smoothies because it is perfect for days when I am running late {which is most days truthfully} and don’t have time to cut up a bunch of fruit. And I am not wasting any fruit that may have gone bad hanging out in the kitchen or forgotten in the refrigerator.
I made a few green smoothie packs {pictured here} without the Greens vitamin mix for the boys because they are green smoothie addicts too.

This is a great idea. I usually pull everything together when I make them but freezing everything in a single bag, including the spinach, will keep me from throwing away more rotting greens!
I usually put greek yogurt and a little juice in mine – you use water?
This is a really good idea. I never plan this far ahead. Also, don’t you find it hard to drink smoothies in the winter. I’m always too cold, but come summer, this is my go to breakfast! LOL
I always put a bunch of dried KALE in our fruit/yogurt smoothies…. the kids never know they are getting all the goodness ;o) Off topic… when is your crochet a long starting? I am looking forward to joining in with you all!! ;o) EMily
Wow, they look yummy. What kind of camera do you use to take these pictures? They look amazing.

Great way not to let greens go bad. I will freeze with almond milk.
