Hocus Pocus Black Flame Candle Craft

This simple Hocus Pocus candle craft is totally fun to make for Halloween this year.  Celebrate spooky season with this free design, a bit of black paint and melted wax!

Hocus Pocus Black Flame Candle Craft

We are super excited for the release of the new Hocus Pocus movie this year! To celebrate I have created all sorts of nostalgic treats; like these Sanderson sister rice krispies, Hocus Pocus punch, spellbook brownies, Jinx the cat cookies, zombie Billy chocolate dipped pretzels and a whole Hocus Pocus dessert board.

Too busy to make this right away? Pin it for later! Pin this tutorial to your favorite craft board on Pinterest and it will be waiting there when you’re ready.

A Hocus Pocus refresher:

The Sanderson sisters are the main characters of the 1993 film, Hocus Pocus. They run amuck with their evil spell book and henchmen Billy Butcherson while hunting children and turning one into Binx, an immortal black cat.

3. Turn the candle on and using a dry paintbrush, carefully paint the plastic candle flame with black acrylic craft paint in a sketchy and random manner. Do not paint the entire flame, but make sure that the light is visible through the black paint.

4. Trim the black flame candle pattern using a paper trimmer or scissors, along the guidelines. This pattern is 6.5” tall by 9.5” wide and is intended for a 3” by 8” pillar candle.

5. Apply adhesive from a tape runner along both 6.5” ends of the pattern. Center the pattern at the front of the candle and carefully wrap around both sides, shifting slightly until they match at the back of the candle.
