Hot toddies have added health benefits in that they help to sooth a sore throat, calm a bad cough and ward away flu symptoms. We use this classic hot cocktail as a home remedy during flu season!

What is a Hot Toddy?

A Hot Toddy is a hot alcoholic beverage that is most often made with hot water, honey, lemon and whiskey. The combination of ingredients are said to reduce cold symptoms.

Things like apple cider, cinnamon sticks, ginger and cloves may be added for flavour. You can use black tea, herbal tea, green tea, earl grey, chamomile tea, ginger tea or really any kind of tea as the base for this easy recipe.

Hot Toddy Recipe

We have always used apple juice as the main ingredient in our hot toddy. Mainly because we make a big batch to share with the kids, we omit the whiskey for them of course.

They always prefer the extra flavor of apple juice to just hot water. It’s easy to change up this basic recipe to suit your tastes!
