Ingredient suggestions:

  • Try adding cream cheese or parmesan to this healthy soup recipe.
  • Use coconut milk or coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
  • Add chopped onion or diced garlic cloves to the stock.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Instead of using chicken broth, try vegetable broth.
  • After a roast chicken dinner, don’t throw away the bones. Use them to make your own chicken bone broth. It freezes well and you can have it on hand whenever you are in the mood for this or any other delicious soups.
  • Don’t have an immersion blender? A regular blender will also work. Just make sure to vent the lid. The hot liquid can create a bit of a high pressure situation!  A food processor could also be used.
  • For a roasted cauliflower soup, spread your cauliflower florets out on a baking sheet, add a drizzle of olive oil, and roast at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, until they are nice and golden brown. Then continue with the soup recipe.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge, in an airtight container, for up to 5 days.

MORE TIPS FOR KETO COOKING:

  • Find low carb substitutions for your current favorite recipes, like cauliflower instead of perogies and radishes instead of potatoes.
  • Maintain a healthy balance of protein and fats. Sometimes it’s hard to get enough fat and/or protein in a ketogenic diet so be sure to include a balance of both in your dishes.
  • Plan ahead and use tools like this Meal Planning Printable to reach maximum success.
  • Find recipes that you love, like this Bacon Cheeseburger CasseroleTaco Bake, and Cauliflower Perogie Casserole, and use them in your weekly rotation.
  • Be sure to stock the kitchen with helpful tools like this food scale, these measuring cups, and a Kitchen Aid mixer.
