Don’t be intimidated by candle making.
It is much easier than it looks.
For our first Pinspired Projects class I wanted to really hit it out of the park with two projects on the first night. So we created these Mason Jar Holders and Mason Jar Cinnamon Candles. This fabulous poured mason jar candle tutorial was our inspiration.
We used:
A block of quick melting wax
Mason jars
Wick
Metal wick holder
Brown wax dye
Cinnamon candle oil
A large double boiler for melting the wax
A spoon
Bamboo skewers
Tape
I was thrilled to finally be making candles as I have had a giant {picture 9″ x 14″ x 2″} block of wax for years {seriously 10 years} just waiting to be made into candles!
Measure the wick and cut to the same height as the mason jar. Use the pliers to clamp the metal wick holder to the bottom of the wick.
Use the double boiler to melt the wax. You don’t want the wax to directly contact the heat source. Boil water in the pan below the wax to heat the pot above consistently. Add dye and scented oil if desired.
I plan on creating citronella candles in the spring with citronella oil and wax crayons for colour. The best tip from our pin was to clean the pot while the wax was still melted. Just use a paper towel to wipe the wax out of the pot ~ worked like a charm!
Place the metal wick holder at the bottom of the jar and attach the top of the wick to a skewer balanced at the top of the jar.
Carefully pour the melted wax into the jar. Allow to cool overnight if possible. The wax will sink in the middle as it hardens so reserve some melted wax to top of the candle and give it a flat surface.
These were so fun and easy to make! The large one will last forever ~ maybe 32 hours of burn time?!
The smaller ones have been put aside for Christmas next year :)

Have you dabbled in candle making?
I do think it’s easy to make. I can’t wait to get started with mine. Thanks for sharing!
