First you need to start with some rocks, clearly! I really like these flat river rocks for painting from Amazon.
It can sometimes be hard to find the perfect flat rock for craft projects and so these rocks make it easy! But if you want to go out rock hunting just be sure to wash the rocks that you find thoroughly before using them for your project.
How to make this snowman craft:
Supplies:
- 2-3” round rock
- Black acrylic paint
- White acrylic paint
- Red acrylic paint
- Orange acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- 2 googly eyes (optional)
- 1 small wooden spool, cut in half
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Pencil
- Bakers twine
- Mod Podge (optional)
Directions:
- Gather supplies.
2. Paint the entire rock white (tip: place a bit of putty on the back of the rock to stick it to your craft surface while painting). Allow the rock to completely dry.
3. Draw snowman features onto the rock (mouth, carrot nose) with a pencil. Paint the wooden spool black and cut it in half (tip: a kitchen knife works for this or a strong pair of sheers).
4. Paint the mouth black, the nose orange and add pink cheeks. I used black dimensional paint for the mouth and eyes but acrylic paint works as well! Seal with a coat of Mod Podge (optional).
5. Glue the googly eyes to the front of the rock (optional). Glue the wooden spool hat to the top of the snowman rock.
6. Make a loop of bakers twine and glue to the back of the rock. Alternatively you could add a magnet to the back of the snowman instead to make a fun magnet craft for the fridge.
