This wall art was really fun to create.
It was all part of my Pinspired Projects class where we have been recreating some of our favorite pins.
I tried to pick projects that seemed to pop up frequently on Pinterest. This pin was certainly that!
Here are our finished canvases. I absolutely LOVE how they turned out! Each participant chose a quote that was meaningful to them and painted however they wanted.
I had created the “Today I Will Be Happier Than A Bird With A French Fry” canvas as our example. We used torn magazines/books, Mod Podge {or a mixture of glue and water} and a paintbrush to first decoupage our canvas.
Using the glue mixture {about 8 parts glue to 1 part water} we layered small, torn pieces of paper onto our canvas.
We painted glue onto the canvas, laid the paper down, then painted glue over top of the paper, slightly overlapping the paper as we went.
The canvases were left to dry for a week but 24 hours should do.
Then we carefully placed our quote onto the canvas using letter stickers.
This canvas looked cool just like this don’t you think?
Then we carefully painted over the entire canvas, being careful not to “push” paint under the stickers. After about an hour we peeled the stickers off to reveal our quote. Finally we coated the entire thing in a varathane finish.
This one hangs in our ensuite bathroom :)
Here are a few of the fabulous examples from class…
