There is just something about creating and giving a handmade card that will never get old or go out of style. The tangible proof of gratitude, greetings or birthday wishes is precious. That’s why I keep a stockpile of home-made cards that I have created for last-minute gift giving. I have to admit that my stash is starting to become depleted though. So I thought that it was time to create a few new cards to add to my collection, ready to be given in gratitude.
This Gold Shaker Card features supplies from the new card kit by We R Memory Keepers and their cool new Fuse tool that allows you to create shaker boxes really easily. Let me show you how…
Step 1: Fill a clear plastic envelope with gold glitter and sequins.
Step 2: fuse the open top of the plastic envelope to the back of the card base. The Fuse tool melts the two pieces of plastic together. The WRMK Card Kit comes with these card bases but you could also create your own and simply punch out a window on the front of the card so that the envelope can be seen.
Step 3: fuse all of the edges of the envelope to the back of the card base.
This is an example of what two pieces of the plastic material fused together will look like. Be sure to apply firm, even pressure when using the fuse tool rather than stopping and allowing the tool to rest in one place too long. This will melt a hole into your project.
Step 4: add embellishments to the front of the card. Fuse the front of the card to the card base, enclosing the shaker envelope between the two layers.
There are a wide variety of ways that you could use these techniques to create shaker cards as well as many different combinations. All of the materials in the WRMK Card Kit coordinate so beautifully that it is easy to come up with a variety of gorgeous combinations.
Have you had a change to check out the fuse? What did you think?
LOVE!!!
Excellent idea. So you dont need mounting foam tape to make room for the sequins to be able to move? Shaker cards without all the expensive foam? Really? Is it too good to be true?
