Today we are going to learn how to create the basic Slip Knot.
This is often the first step in starting a crochet project that is not usually detailed in the pattern that you may be following. I have students who sometimes ask me for a reminder of how to create this knot so here we go…
Using the end of the yarn lay it over your index finger.
Holding the tail of the yarn wrap it around your finger, crossing over the first piece of yarn.
Tuck the second piece of yarn under the first piece of yarn.
While holding the tail of the yarn firmly, pull the tucked piece through to form a loop.
Now you have a slip knot {sometimes called an adjustable loop} to place on your hook and start your first project with. Whoop whoop!
Here’s a quick video of the whole slip knot process.
