While looking for seasonal garland to add a pop of color to my coffee bar this year, I just could not find what I was looking for. I scoured the dollarstores, crafts stores and home decor departments all to no avail.
So, knowing that I had a variety of wooden beads at home, I decided to create my own customizable wood bead garland. I love this idea because with just a little bit of acrylic paint you can make any color of garland that you are looking for!
The pink, white and neutral wood color of this garland coordinates beautifully with my Easter tiered tray this year. The wood beads that I used were found at Michaels while everything else was from our local Dollar Store. I have linked similar products below.

Supplies:
- Yarn needle
- Wooden beads, approximately 120 beads
- Hemp twine
- White acrylic paint
- Red acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Wooden skewers
- Scissors
You can chose any size of bead for this project. I like the look of medium 20 mm sized beads but larger and smaller ones would work too! This spring garland uses a mix of 20 mm and 25 mm beads.
Directions:
1. Place ten beads onto each skewer to make it easier to paint them.
2. Mix white and red paint to achieve your desired pink color. Use the paintbrush to paint about forty wooden beads pink.
3. Skewer and paint forty beads white. Rest the skewers on a bowl to dry.
4. Once dry, remove the beads from the skewers.
5. Thread about 3ft of twine onto a yarn needle, tie a knot at one end. Create a tassel from the twine and thread the length of twine through it.
6. Thread the beads onto the hemp twine using the yarn needle.
7. Alternate sizes and colors of beads for a fun look. Tie off with a knot at the end.
I used about 120 beads, 40 pink, 40 white and 40 wood to create a length of 3ft wooden bead garland.
