Tarte Au Sucre Recipe

Hello friends!  Are you enjoying the fall colours as much as we are?  It seems that with the cooler weather all I want to do is snuggle by the fire and bake all of the things!  First off this season is this amazing Tarte Au Sucre (Sugar Pie) that is absolutely perfect for your holiday festivities…

Tarte Au Sucre Recipe

This is a classic French Canadian recipe that a friend recently introduced me to.  We brought it to a Canadian Thanksgiving potluck where it was an immediate hit!  Many friends asked if one of the ingredients was maple syrup but no!  Just brown sugar and milk mostly.  It tastes a little bit like a custard dripping with maple syrup and is perfect alone or paired with whipping cream.

The crust will crack and separate and that is totally normal.  Cool the pie completely before serving.  In fact go ahead and freeze it if you need to save it for later.  I love that this is something simple enough to make and bring to all sorts of events or even just serve to the family as a treat one night.  It’s a rich dessert and so delicious!  I hope that you’ll try it and let me know what you think!
