The main ingredient in Irish Cream is heavy cream that is paired with a premium irish whiskey. It was invented in 1973, in Ireland and has become a top selling liqueur worldwide!
Baileys is the original irish cream liqueur popular in many pubs and irish cream recipes.
Cream liqueurs like this are often made with fresh cream and perfectly paired with a cup of coffee. You can buy Bailey Irish Cream from the liquor store but this original recipe is by far the best tasting.
I like to make this homemade irish cream for the holidays and store it in the fridge for up to two weeks. Mixing this recipe in a large, quart sized jar is the best way to store and shake it up before use.
This is the best irish cream liqueur, perfect for hot drinks or a single malt. Fresh irish cream is perfect for pairing with after dinner coffee or an after dinner drink.
What is Irish Cream good with?
- Coffee. We like to add a shot or two of keto irish cream to our coffee on mornings when we are heading to the ski hill or sledding with the kids.

How long does Baileys Irish Cream last?

Because of the high dairy content of this liqueur, it has a limited shelf life. It’s best when used fresh for the best taste and flavor.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup Irish whisky
- 2/3 cup Swerve granulated sweetener
- 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa
- 1 tsp espresso
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Note: white cane sugar can be used instead of sweetener for a classic version of this homemade irish cream recipe.
Directions:
- In a large, quart sized, jar mix together all of the ingredients.
- Close with a lid and shake the jar well to incorporate all of the ingredients.
- Serve by the oz over ice or in your favorite drink.
