This is one of our “go to” camping recipes. Tin foil packet potatoes are a staple on our camping trips and can be paired with steak, pork or even fish. And leftovers are perfect for breakfast hash the next day!
We like to use new potatoes because they don’t need to be peeled and often cook faster than bakers potatoes.
Simply cut six potatoes into halves or quarters {depending on how big they are}, add half of a diced onion, two tablespoons of butter or margarine and sprinkle with your favorite seasoning. We like to use garlic salt, seasoning salt or lemon pepper.
Wrap the mixture in tin foil and cook on the bar-b-cue or over the camp fire. It usually takes about 30 minutes on medium heat for the potatoes to cook through.
Unwrap and serve with your favorite protein.
Enjoy!
