fun monster cookie pops

These fun monster cookie pops are seriously easy to make and decorate with the kids.  They make the cutest Valentines Day cookie treat!

I am super excited to share these adorable Valentine Monster Cookie Pops with you today!
The boys and I have been somewhat obsessed with monsters recently {insert our Crochet Monster Hat Pattern} and have transferred our love into these cookies!!!

Valentine Monster Cookie Pops

This is a great project to do with kids of all ages!
The bright colours and silly faces are a perfect addition to a Valentine’s Day party or gift.

Seriously how cute is this little guy?
The boys love getting involved in all of the crafting and baking that goes on around here and these were no exception.  They made these cookies mostly by themselves!
We started with my great grandmas Sugar Cookie Recipe…

How to make these fun monster cookie pops:

This post contains affiliate links.

Supplies:
  • Heart Shaped Cookies (we made ours at home but you could purchase heart shaped cookies and insert lollipop sticks with a bit of melted chocolate to hold them)
  • Lollipop Sticks
  • Candy Melts
  • Candy Eyes
  • Candy Mouths
  • Icing bags

Isaiah and I made the cookie dough and cut out heart shapes.  We inserted lollipop sticks into the dough before baking and they seemed to hold up just fine in the oven.  The sticks didn’t discolour or change in any way.

While the boys were at school I dipped each of the cookies in melted chocolate and
laid them out on parchment paper to harden.

When they got home from school I had set out all of the supplies that they would need to finish the Valentine Monster Cookie Pops.  Candy melts in icing bags made decorating a breeze.  I just popped them in the microwave to melt the chocolate before decorating the cookies.  The boys had fun dotting and drizzling chocolate all over the cookies and adding eyes and these awesome mouths and moustaches that I found at Michaels.

More kitchen essentials for baking:

  • I love using this non-stick bakeware for all of my baking.
  • These silicone mitts are perfect for grasping hot pans and baking dishes.
  • This Henckel Knife is my favorite for slicing and dicing in the kitchen.
  • These parchment paper bags are perfect for packaging and these large Rubbermaid food storage containers are great for storing baking in the freezer.

Valentine Monster Cookie Pops

This is such a fun, family activity!  We plan on wrapping each Monster Cookie Pop in a clear cellophane bag and delivering them to friends for Valentine’s Day.
