Wooden Apple Ornament Teacher Gift

It’s that time of year again, back-to-school!! Can I get a “hallelujah”?!  If you have littles who have reached school age then you know what I’m talking about.  While I love the freedom that Summer time brings, I also crave the routine and organization of fall.  Which means more time for momma to get crafting WHOOP!  Today I am sharing these adorable Wooden Apple Ornaments that we used as Teacher Gifts this year.

As you guys know, my favorite kinds of projects are those that are quick and simple to create.  This little craft fits the bill!  Bonus points that these wooden apple ornaments are super cute too.

I recently scored a pile of wooden discs cut from a tree branch.  You could totally do this yourself if you have a handy-dandy table saw!  I drilled holes in each round of wood to create a spot to tie a hanger for our ornaments.  Once this was done we were golden and the crafting commenced.  So far we’ve created Dancing Spiders, Reindeer and Snowmen out of some of these wooden discs.

There is just something about apples that screams “Teacher Gift” to me!  It could be that here in the Okanagan we are surrounded with apples this time of year… regardless, what teacher doesn’t love a little something that says “we appreciate you”?

Here’s how to create your own Wooden Apple Ornament!

Materials (affiliate links):

  • Red acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • White paint marker
  • Green felt
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Twine

Directions:

  1. Paint once side of the wood red.
  2. Cut a green leaf from felt and glue to the apple.
  3. Use white paint pen to add sentiment.
  4. Tie twine through the hole to hang.

Watch the step-by-step video on how to make this wooden apple ornament.

These make perfect teacher gifts any time of year.  My kids brought them to school as soon as the paint dried to gift to their teachers at the beginning of the year.  They would make great gift tags too for holiday gift giving…. say, on a bottle of wine? Now we’re talking hey teachers?!?

Have fun and go spread some love to your favorite teacher…
