Ingredients

  • 1 lbs. asparagus trimmed
  • 8 strips of bacon
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/8 tsp crushed black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Prepare a baking dish with either parchment paper or nonstick spray.
  • Wash and trim your asparagus stalks and place them in a deep baking tray.
  • Sprinkle the olive oil, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder over the asparagus. Make sure to mix everything thoroughly with your hands, so that every piece of asparagus is coated with the oil and seasoning.
  • Once it is all coated, divide the asparagus into 8 bundles and wrap each bundle of asparagus with a slice of bacon.
  • Place the bundles onto the prepared pan and bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Make sure to flip the asparagus bundles over halfway through.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Try making this recipe in your air fryer or on the barbecue.
  • Trimming the asparagus is an important step that you don’t want to skip. The bottom of the asparagus spear has a very woody end.
  • If the asparagus is quite wet after washing, paper towels can be used to pat them dry. This will ensure that the seasonings stick to the asparagus nicely.
  • Try placing an oven-safe wire rack or cooling rack into your baking pan and laying the asparagus bundles on that. This will allow the hot grease from the bacon to drip down while everything cooks.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
