Recipe Notes
You may need to add water to the pot as the apples cook down.
The whole family went apple picking at my Grandma and Grandpa’s place last weekend. We were fortunate enough to get to the apples before the bears did. No, seriously…. bears. I have a picture. For proof. Not of the bear. Just proof that he’d been there. Nice, I know!

Tips and Tricks
- I sometimes add a splash of lemon juice to my apples as they are cooking. This can help to prevent the sauce from getting too brown.
- Use more or less cinnamon based on your preferences. You can also add other spices, like nutmeg or apple pie spice.
- Instead of sugar, use honey or maple syrup as a sweetener. Or leave out the sweetener entirely.
- An immersion blender or food processor will give your apple sauce an especially smooth texture.
- Save the cores and peels and try your hand at making your own apple cider vinegar.
- Store your apple sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. For longer storage, freeze it for up to three months or can the apple sauce in glass jars.
