Chex mix cereal, m&ms and white chocolate chips are so fun to create Christmas treats with! It’s super easy to make a festive reindeer food mix with just a few ingredients from the grocery store.
This is a fun tradition to introduce to little kids! We like to make this easy reindeer food recipe as a special treat that helps santa’s reindeer fly.
When the boys were little they would put a bowl on the lawn Christmas Eve night and check to see if it was gone by Christmas morning. Of course, mom or dad helped to eat this magic reindeer food recipe before anyone was the wiser!

Ingredients:
- Chex cereal
- Cheerio cereal
- Pretzel twists
- Red and green M&Ms
- Red & green sprinkles
- White chocolate candy melts

Ingredients
1. Prepare the ingredients. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper.
2. In a medium bowl, melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely smooth.
Alternately, you can also use this new Wilton Chocolate Melting Pot that keeps the chocolate melted at the perfect temperature!
2. Place the cereal and pretzels into a large freezer bag.
A large bowl would work as well.
3. Add 3/4 of the melted chocolate to the ziploc bag.
4. Mix the cereal and chocolate until it is completely coated.
5. Pour the mixture out onto the prepared baking sheet. Add the remaining white chocolate and m&ms.
6. Top with festive sprinkles and mix together with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula.
7. Place the sheet pan in the fridge until the chocolate hardens (about an hour).
8. Break into pieces to serve.
TIPS FOR MAKING CHRISTMAS MIX
- Use Wilton candy melts for best results, the wafer chocolate melts the best. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to other melted chocolate chips to help them melt and pour better.
- Lay the chocolate covered treat on a parchment lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
- Place the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to completely cool before serving.
How long does reindeer mix last?
Store this yummy mix in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to one month at room temperature. It can also be stored in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting or in the freezer for months.

Christmas Reindeer Food Chex Mix
Ingredients
- 2 cups Chex mix cereal
- 1 cup Cheerio cereal
- ½ cup pretzel twists
- ½ cup red and green M&Ms
- 2 Tbsp red & green sprinkles
- 6 oz white chocolate wafers
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the Chex, Cheerios and pretzels into a gallon sized freezer bag..
- Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat it in the microwave at 15 second intervals. Stir in between intervals until the chocolate becomes smooth.
- Pour the chocolate over the cereal mixture in the bag.
- Close the bag and shake it until the cereal is covered in chocolate.
- Add M&Ms and Christmas sprinkles.
- Spread the mixture out on the baking sheet.
- Place the sheet pan in the fridge until the chocolate hardens (about an hour).
- Break into pieces to serve.
