I could eat potatoes in just about any form. My whole family loves them. And I don’t mind one bit.

Today I want to share how to air fry baked potatoes. These potatoes are great served with a main dish like chicken or beef.

Keep the flavors simple with a bit of butter, salt, and pepper or load them up with all your favorite toppings.

What kind of potato is best?

Did you know that potatoes are a good source of vitamin C and potassium? Eating them with the skin on increases your fiber intake too. Delicious and healthy is a win-win!

I prefer to use russets when baking potatoes because their high starch content gives them a nice fluffy texture on the inside when baked. Yukon golds are a good alternative too, but you can use whatever type of potato you like best.

Recipe Notes

  • Small potatoes may require less cooking time, while large potatoes may need more. Adjust the time accordingly to ensure they are cooked through.
  • Preheating the air fryer helps ensure even cooking, but it’s not strictly necessary. However, preheating can help shorten the overall cooking time.
  • While you can wrap the potatoes in foil, it will result in a softer skin. If you prefer a crispy skin, it’s best to cook the potatoes without foil.
  • The potatoes are done when they are tender and easily pierced with a fork. You can also check by gently squeezing the potatoes; they should give slightly under pressure.

  • You can reheat leftovers in the microwave or oven, but I prefer to use the air fryer. Simply place the baked potatoes in the air fryer basket and cook at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes until heated through.
  • Store any uneaten potatoes in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

Besides sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and chives, you can also top baked potatoes with green onions, bacon bits, salsa, diced vegetables, pulled pork, or chili for a hearty meal.
