Ingredients:
- 10 Mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, unwrapped
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips, for melting
- Pretzel sticks
- Red M&Ms
- Candy eyes
Tip: regular sized Reese’s cups work just as well as the mini ones! Try experimenting with different store-bought chocolates.
Instructions:
1. Unwrap the reeses and prepare a parchment lined baking sheet.
2. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the chocolate chips at 15 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted.
3. Place large dabs of chocolate directly on the parchment paper, a couple of inches apart.
4. Press two pretzel sticks into each dollop of melted chocolate.
5. Add another drop of chocolate onto that and press the reeses onto it.
Be generous with the chocolate so that the candy really sticks!
This forms the reindeer head.
6. Add a dab of chocolate towards the bottom of the reeces cup.
7. Press the red m&m into the chocolate to create a nose.
8. Add a dab of chocolate above those nose.
9. Press two candy eyes into the chocolate.
10. Put the baking sheet in the fridge for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden before serving.
TIPS FOR MAKING THESE REINDEER REESES:
- Lay the chocolate covered treat on a cookie tray for easy moving and transporting before serving.
- These treats are best served and stored on a flat surface as they tend to break when stored in a bag or bowl.
- Regular reeses peanut butter cups work just as well.
- Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to a week at room temperature. They can also be stored in the freezer for up to three months.
More Christmas Treat Tips:
- Use red hots or any other red candy for the red noses instead of m&ms.
- Mini pretzels, pretzel sticks or pretzel rods could be used for antlers.
- Use white candy melts, chocolate candy melts or a dot of frosting to stick features to the cookies.
