My first heart shaped pizza memory is from Pizza Hut, like twenty years ago, when I was on a first date in University. All I remember is being served this giant heart pizza and feeling super awkward. Ha ha!

Valentine pizza recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 can Pillsbury pizza crust
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
Tip: Homemade pizza dough totally works for this recipe as well. I just like how the Pillsbury crust cuts out some of the prep work.
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cut several slices of pepperoni into heart shapes.
This step is optional but the pepperoni hearts make easy, darling embellishments on top of each pizza.
3. Pop open the pizza crust dough. Divide the dough into three equal triangle shapes.
4. Mold each dough triangle into a heart shape and place it on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
5. Spread pizza sauce over the heart shaped pizza dough.
6. Add pepperoni slices to the pizza.
7. Top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni hearts.
8. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
9. Sprinkle with dried oregano before serving.
You can totally have the kids add their toppings of choice. My teenage boys love simple ingredients, so classic pepperoni pizza is a pretty safe bet.
Pizza topping ideas:
- fresh basil or oregano
- parmesan cheese, Tex Mex cheese or cheddar cheese
- italian seasoning
- ground beef or italian sausage
- spaghetti sauce or tomato paste
- ham, prosciutto, roast beef
- pineapple, olive, or spinach
- sliced mushrooms & bell peppers
Fun shaped pizza can be used for any occasion and should not be reserved for for only Valentine’s Day. Make this heart shaped pepperoni pizza for birthday parties or family movie night!
