I am so pleased with how this Mason Jar Pedicure gift idea turned out.  It’s not always easy to find the perfect, last minute holiday gift.

pedicure gift ideaRecently, I discovered this when I remembered that one of my girlfriends had a birthday in December.  I wanted to find her something meaningful, beautiful and useful and I seriously had only one day to do it!  I learned a lot during this experience and am sharing my last minute holiday gift tips with you today (as well as a FREE printable).

With a few bits of bakers wine, a candy cane and this FREE printable a quick and easy last minute holiday gift idea was born.

I was given the opportunity to shop for my last minute gift so I went straight to Shoppers Drug Mart.  Here’s what I love about Shoppers, they have just about everything that you could imagine in store and are open LATE.  Perfect for last minute shoppers like me!  If you go to Shoppers Drug Mart online they even have a Gifts Made Easy app complete with your category, price range and recipient.  It’s brilliant I tell you!

What you could fill this mason jar with:

In the cosmetics aisle I headed straight for the nail polish.  Like me, my friend is one creative momma!  She always has her hands in some kind of baking or crafting.  This can be killer on a freshly painted manicure.  So when Kim from Seven Thirty Three mentioned that this new Miracle Gel polish from Sally Hansen was awesome, I knew just what to purchase!

I also picked up a few pedicure essentials at our local dollar store to help fill the mason jar.  A pumice stone, toe separator, nail polish remover (small and green in color – score!), nail clippers, nail files (red in color – perfect!), cotton balls and brush.

I layered all of the goodies into a large mason jar starting with the cotton balls, nail polish and nail polish remover.  Then I filled the space with the remaining items and sealed the jar with a white mason jar lid ring.  Finally, I quickly painted the mason jar lid with black chalkboard paint to act as a name tag.  My motto?  Use what you’ve got at home and I just happen to have a stock pile of chalkboard spray paint *wink*.

Finally I decorated the jar with things that I had in my Christmas craft bin.  Bakers twine and a candy cane literally tied the holiday motif together.  The addition of this FREE printable gift tag completed the project.

Last Minute Holiday Gift Tips:

1.  Printables – they are a quick and easy way to create a unique addition to nearly any gift.  Be sure to download the FREE May Your Toes Be Merry & Bright printable showcased in this post.

 2.  Gift Cards – sometimes it is hard to think of something last minute, for that person who seems to have everything.  Gift cards are a great last minute gift idea, especially if you personalize them with a DIY gift card holder or unique printable card.  Be sure to keep it personal by purchasing one from your friends’ favorite coffee shop, restaurant or store.

 3.  Baking – give the gift of time.  I start my holiday baking in November and freeze trays, tins and containers of goodies.  These make great last minute or “oops! I totally forgot about that person on my list” gifts.

 4.  Wrap – get creative with your packaging.  A pretty package can make up for a gift that may lack a lot of pizzaz.  Use mason jars, brown lunch bags decorated with washi tape and bakers twine or a decorative tin from the dollar store.  A bit of ribbon, washi tape or bakers twine does wonders!

5. Color – coordinate your gift using color.  In our Mason Jar Pedicure kit I purposefully chose red and green items that would go with our holiday theme.  When the Miracle Gel top coat turned out to be a black bottle, I simply went with it and painted our mason jar lid with black chalkboard paint to coordinate.
