First you need to start with some rocks, clearly!  I really like these flat river rocks for painting from Amazon.  It can sometimes be hard to find the perfect flat rock for craft projects and so these rocks make it easy!  But if you want to go out rock hunting just be sure to wash the rocks that you find thoroughly before using them for your project.

These apples are simply darling and can be made easier or more difficult depending on the age of the kids making them. We’ve also made these cute Apple Ornaments and Apple Embroidery Hoops.

3. Paint the wooden spool green and cut it in half. Tip: a kitchen knife works for this or a strong pair of sheers.

4. Allow it to completely dry and cut a leaf shape out of the green paper.

5. Glue half of the wooden spool to the top of the red rock.

6. Finally, glue the green leaf to the top of the rock, next to the spool.
