I love avocados. Give me some avocado toast, or even just half of an avocado with a little sprinkle of sea salt and a squeeze of lime juice, and I’m a happy girl.

Too busy to make this right away? Pin it for later! Pin this post to your favorite board on Pinterest and it will be there when you’re ready!

Guacamole is the real star though. Guacamole has its origins all the way back with the Aztecs in Central America. Lucky for us, technology and transportation infrastructure has progressed since then,  and we get to enjoy avocados all the way up here in Canada.

Premade guacamole is readily available in grocery stores. We can easily buy avocados to make our own homemade guacamole too.

Health Benefits of Guacamole:

  • The health benefits primarily come from the main ingredient in this recipe.  Avocados are often called a superfood because they are full of monounsaturated fats that boost brain function.
  • Monounsaturated fatty acids, like those found in olive oil, avocado oil, and fresh avocado, can have many positive effects on your health. These good fats can help lower your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke.
  • Avocados are also full of fiber, potassium, vitamin B, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin C and magnesium.
The best guacamole
  • There are many health benefits of avocados, and by extension, guacamole. The problem is that guacamole is most often served as a dip or topping for things that are not quite as healthy.
  • Making your own guacamole at home allows you to avoid the addition of less healthy ingredients, like sour cream, excess sodium, and sugar, that are often found in guacamole that is purchased at the grocery store. This can aid in weight loss, lower blood pressure and improved immune system function.
  • Whether you are looking to increase your dietary fiber intake, improve your cardiovascular health, or are just wanting to make more healthy snack choices, avocado is a great addition to your diet.
