My Kitchen Essentials

Three glass bowls on a wooden surface contain small pretzels, pecans, and chocolate Rolo candies.

Ingredients

Tip: pretzel rods, large pretzels, pretzel twists, pretzel sticks or square pretzels can be used instead of mini ones.

A baking tray lined with parchment paper holds five rows of small pretzel twists, evenly spaced. A colorful checkered cloth is partially visible in the upper left corner.

Instructions

1. Simply cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place pretzels on the sheet.

A baking sheet lined with parchment paper holds 24 pretzel treats, each topped with a chocolate candy. A festive red and green cloth is partially visible in the upper left corner.

2. Top each pretzel with an unwrapped Rolo candy.

3. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes.  Tip: watch them carefully!  You need the Rolo to be just starting to melt.

Small clusters of chocolate, caramel, and pecans are arranged on parchment paper. Each cluster is topped with a pecan and has a glossy, tempting appearance.

4. Upon removing from the oven immediately press a pecan into the top of the melting Rolo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use different types of pretzels for this recipe?

Absolutely! While the classic version usually uses mini pretzel twists, you can try pretzel rods, squares, or even pretzel sticks. Each type gives a slightly different crunch and shape, so feel free to experiment and find your favorite.

How should I store my Rolo turtle pretzels to keep them fresh?

To keep your Rolo turtle pretzels at their best, store them in an airtight container at room temperature. They should stay fresh for up to a week (if they last that long before getting eaten!). Avoid direct sunlight and heat to prevent the chocolate from melting.

Can I make these pretzels in advance for a party?

Definitely! These treats are perfect for making ahead of time. You can prepare them a day or two before your event, and they’ll still taste just as delicious. Just store them properly in an airtight container, and they’ll be ready to impress your guests.

TIPS FOR MAKING PRETZEL TREATS

  • Lay the chocolate covered treat on a parchment lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
  • Place the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to completely cool before serving.
  • Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to one month at room temperature. They can also be stored in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting or in the freezer for months.
