Spread butter generously over one side of each slice of bread.
Slice the burger patties in half thinly.
Place a large skillet on the stovetop and preheat over medium-high heat.
Place one piece of bread, butter side down on the hot griddle.
Layer the bread with a slice of cheese, half a pattie, slice of cheese, half a pattie and a slice of cheese.
Top with another piece of bread, butter side facing out.
Grill the cheese burger for about 3-4 minutes on each side.
Use a spatula to press the sandwich together and combine the melty layers.
Slice each of the grilled cheeseburgers in half and top with pickles.
