Ingredients

  • 1 12 oz can of tomato paste
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 Tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp sugar optional

Instructions

  • Start by adding your tomato paste, vinegar, water, honey, onion powder, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt to a large pot.
  • Whisk well and bring to a boil.
  • Once your pot has begun to boil, continue to boil for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Next, turn down to simmer, and continue to simmer for 20 minutes until it starts to thicken.
  • Pour into a mason jar and place in the fridge until chilled.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to tweak the amount of honey or sugar to suit your taste preferences.
  • Stirring continuously during boiling prevents burning and ensures a smooth texture.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • Experiment with different spices for different flavour profiles! We love to do this with our homemade BBQ sauce with this apple bourbon sauce.
