Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix together salt, dried parsley, dried oregano, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and olive oil to create a marinade.
  • Place the chicken thighs in a large bowl or resealable plastic bag and coat them evenly with the marinade. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for maximum flavor.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove the chicken thighs from the marinade and shake off any excess marinade.
  • Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket, skin side down, in a single layer. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Cook chicken thighs in the air fryer at 380°F (190°C) for 12 minutes.
  • After 12 minutes, flip the chicken thighs over using tongs and cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken thighs from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve hot with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • If you find that your chicken is quite damp, especially if it has been in the freezer, pat it dry with paper towels before coating it with the marinade.
  • You can use boneless skinless chicken thighs if preferred. Adjust the cooking time slightly as they may cook faster than bone-in, skin-on thighs.
  • Feel free to customize the marinade with your favorite herbs and spices to suit your taste preferences.
  • If you want to add a little heat to the marinade, cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes work well.
  • While marinating adds flavor, you can still cook the chicken thighs without marinating them. Just season them with salt and pepper before air frying.
  • You can use chicken drumsticks following the same cooking instructions. Adjust the cooking time if needed based on the size of the drumsticks.
  • An instant read thermometer is your best friend when it comes to ensuring your meat is cooked to a safe temperature. I highly recommend you invest in one.
  • Store any leftover chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
