Cut open a pomegranate and deseed.
Place pomegranate whole pods in a medium saucepan.
Add sugar and cook on medium for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Use a potato masher to crush the juice from the seeds.
Remove from the heat and add vodka.
Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, straining out the pomegranate pulp and seeds.
Pour the resulting juice into a large jar.
Store the final product in an airtight container until ready to use.
