A plate of chocolate bark topped with pretzels and toffee bits sits invitingly. Resembling rocky road crockpot candy, the treats are artfully arranged on a white plate, encircled by candy canes and red berries on a woven mat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 6 ounces pretzel sticks or twists
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp Skor bits

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line a baking pan with parchment or wax paper.
  • Place pretzels on the sheet in a single layer.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
  • Allow the mixture to boil for 2–3 minutes, bubbling and caramelizing.
  • Pour over the pretzels and place in the oven to cook for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee.
  • Spread the melted chocolate over the whole thing with the back of a spoon.
  • Top with more broken pretzels and Skor bits, if desired.
  • Allow the pan to cool to room temperature before placing it in the fridge to set.
  • After about an hour, remove cookie sheet from the fridge and break the pretzel toffee bark into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

  • I like to use mini pretzels in this recipe for the perfect salty-sweet ratio, but any size or shape will work.
  • A full 12-ounce bag of chocolate chips is the perfect amount for this recipe – no measuring needed.
  • If adding nuts, spread them over the bark before putting the pan in the oven to get nice and toasty.
  • This candy will keep at room temperature for up to 5 days. Store it in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • I like to give out small bags or boxes of pretzel toffee to teachers during the holiday season. For gifting, pack in holiday tins or cellophane bags with ribbon and a gift tag for the cutest homemade present.
