Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp maple extract for flavor

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine sugars and water.
  • Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves.
  • Remove from heat and add extract.
  • Serve with pancakes of your choice.

Notes

  • Make this syrup sugar-free by simply substituting Swerve sweetener for the sugar.
  • For a thicker syrup, allow the mixture to cook for a few minutes and reduce in volume. Remove from heat once it has reached your desired consistency.
  • Try making this easy recipe with just brown sugar or use a mixture of really dark brown sugar and white sugar.
  • Give other flavors of syrup a try by substituting the maple extract with another extract of your choice. Use vanilla extract for homemade vanilla pancake syrup or try coconut, almond, or strawberry syrup.
  • Store leftover syrup in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Leftover pancakes can be frozen, separated with parchment paper and placed inside of a freezer bag for easy access. Reheat pancakes for one minute in the microwave.
