Ingredients

Instructions

  • Gather all of the ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat and eggs.
  • Add onion, breadcrumbs, and seasoning.
  • Mix until well combined.
  • Use a kitchen scale to weigh out 5-oz balls from the meat mixture.
  • Form the balls into patties by hand or use a patty press.
  • Brush each patty with a generous layer of BBQ sauce.
  • Place the patties on a grill preheated to 425 degrees F.
  • Cook for 8-10 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees F.
  • Flip halfway through cooking and top each burger with a slice of provolone cheese.
  • Serve each burger on a fresh hamburger bun with a generous serving of BBQ sauce.

Notes

  • Combine ground beef with 1 pound of ground pork for extra richness.
  • For a smoky twist, swap Worcestershire sauce with extra homemade BBQ sauce.
  • Panko breadcrumbs are our favorite binding agent, but crushed crackers may be used instead.
  • Add additional seasonings like onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, or kosher salt to taste.
  • Chill formed patties in the fridge for 20 minutes to help them keep their shape on the grill.
  • Add a thin layer of foil under patties if your grates tend to flare up.
  • Store patties between layers of parchment paper to prevent sticking. Alternately, freeze uncooked patties on a tray, then wrap in plastic wrap before transferring to an airtight container.
  • Avoid overmixing the meat — it can lead to a tough burger.
  • Keep the cooking times consistent by making all patties the same thickness.
