The Best Grilled Halibut Recipe

This is the best grilled halibut recipe that will make even those who hate fish, fall in love! We love the light combination of flavours and perfectly cooked fish on the grill.

Ingredients

  • 4 halibut fillets cut to 1/2" thickness skin removed
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice
  • Salt & pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the grill to medium. We like to use a cast iron skillet on the stove top but this can also be done on the BBQ with a well seasoned grill or on a George Forman grill. Melt the butter in the skillet and allow to slightly brown.
  • Season both sides of the fish with salt and pepper and place on the hot grill.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes per side. Sprinkle with lime juice before removing from the pan.

Notes

  • This recipe can also be made with halibut steaks. The cooking time may change, so use a meat thermometer if you are unsure.
  • I like to pat my fillets dry with some paper towel before getting started.
  • Feel free to add other seasonings according to your tastes, like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or cumin. Fresh parsley or cilantro would be delicious too.
  • Instead of lime juice, use lemon juice and serve with extra lemon wedges on the side.
