Like so many other people, my family loves French fries! They make such great comfort food – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with the perfect amount of saltiness. I don’t always want to hit the drive thru though.
That’s where today’s air fryer recipe using frozen fries comes in. Air frying frozen fries is a great way to achieve the crispy exterior and soft inside of your favorite fast food fries, but without deep frying.

Air Fryer Frozen French Fries
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 10-12 minutes
Total Time: 12-14 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients
- Frozen fries – thick cut work great in this air fryer recipe.
Instructions
1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (185°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
2. Place the frozen fries in the air fryer basket, spreading them out into a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary.
3. Cook the fries in the air fryer at 370°F (185°C) for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time for even crisping.
4. Once the French fries are golden brown and crispy, carefully remove them from the air fryer.
5. Serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
- If you prefer your fries extra crispy, you can extend the cooking time by 1-2 minutes, but keep an eye on them to prevent overcooking.
- Preheating the air fryer helps ensure even cooking and crispiness, but it’s not strictly necessary. You may need to adjust the cooking time slightly if not preheating.
- Frozen fries typically have enough oil coating to crisp up nicely in the air fryer without any additional oil.
- To prevent sticking, make sure the chips are spread out in a single layer in the basket and shake the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure they cook evenly.
- You can season fries according to your taste with salt, pepper, or your favorite seasoning before cooking for extra flavor or sprinkle them with seasoning immediately after cooking. Try tossing them in a Cajun seasoning blend, garlic powder, chili powder, seasoning salt, or some cayenne pepper.
- While these fries are best eating immediately, leftover fries can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer to restore the crispiness.
I love how quick and easy these air fryer frozen fries are to make! They disappear almost as quickly, so make extras. Enjoy!
