I like to substitute these turkey meatballs for beef meatballs in tomato sauce and serve them over pasta. For a low carb, gluten-free option, use zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice instead of traditional pasta.

Recipe Notes

  • Preheating the air fryer helps ensure even cooking, but it’s not strictly necessary. You may need to adjust the cooking time slightly if not preheating.
  • To prevent sticking, make sure the meatballs are spread out in a single layer in the basket and shake the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure they cook evenly. You can also use cooking spray on the basket.
  • You can season the meatballs with your favorite spices or herbs before cooking for added flavor, like salt, pepper, onion powder, or garlic powder. You can toss them in sauce after cooking.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the meatballs on a baking sheet in the oven at 350°F for 20 minutes.
  • I like to check the internal temperature of any meat that I cook with an instant read thermometer to confirm it is safe to consume.
  • Store any leftover meatballs in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Cooked meatballs can be made ahead of time and store in an airtight container or freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months.
