With pretzels stick antlers, candy eyes and a red M&M nose, they make the cutest cookie for the holidays. These adorable reindeer cookies are a super fun cookie to make and the perfect holiday treat to take to your next Christmas event!

How to make this reindeer cookie recipe:

Ingredients:
- 9 Milk Chocolate Covered Vanilla Wafer Cookies
- ¼ cup chocolate chips, for melting
- 18 pretzel sticks
- Red M&Ms
- Candy eyes
Tip: homemade vanilla wafers work just as well as store-bought cookies but using premade cookies cuts out a lot of the work. Find the homemade recipe at the bottom of this post!
Directions:
1. Open the box of wafers and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
2. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the chocolate chips at 15 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted.
3. Use the chocolate to stick the reindeer features into place on the wafer cookie.
4. Place a dab of chocolate at the bottom of each cookie to attach a red M&M nose.
5. Use a drop of chocolate in the center to affix the eyes.
6. Finally, attach two pretzels sticks to the top of each cookie.
7. Put the baking sheet in the fridge for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden before serving.
TIPS FOR MAKING THESE REINDEER COOKIES:
- Lay the chocolate covered treat on a cookie tray for easy moving and transporting before serving.
- Homemade vanilla wafer cookies can be dipped in melted chocolate.
- Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to a week at room temperature. They can also be stored in the freezer for up to three months.
HOMEMADE WAFER COOKIES:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup chocolate frosting, for filling
Directions:
1. Preheat a wafer iron and coat it with non stick baking spray.
2. Cream the butter and sugar in a stand mixer with paddle attachment or in a medium bowl with a hand mixer on low speed.
3. Add flour and mix until completely combined.
4. Use a small cookie scoop to drop wafer cookie dough into the center of the preheated wafer iron.
5. Cook for about 1 minute or until the edges are just golden.
6. Let the wafer cookies cool on a parchment lined baking sheet or cooling rack.
7. Carefully spread a thin layer of frosting on each cookie and layer with a second cookie to make a cookie sandwich.
** These chocolate wafer cookies can also be made in the oven. Use a rolling pin to roll dough flat, cut with a 2-inch cookie cutter, place on an ungreased cookie sheet lined with a silicone mat, press each cookie with a cookie stamp and bake.
More Wafer Cookie Tips:
- Use a butter knife or piping bag to spread the frosting.
- Try different fillings like nutella, peanut butter, cookie butter, banana pudding, cream cheese frosting or melted chocolate.
- Be prepared for some breakage as these wafer sandwich cookies can be very delicate.
- Chocolate wafers can be made made by adding 1/8 cup of cocoa powder to the dry ingredients.
- For crispy cookies simple add a few seconds to the bake time.
