Supplies
Ingredients
- Bocconcini Mozzarella balls – the perfect circles of cheese.
- Prosciutto – to wrap around the eyes.
- Black olives – create the pupils.
Instructions
- Use a sharp knife to carve out a space into each mozza ball for a black olive slice to rest.
2. Tear the prosciutto into strips and wrap one around each ball.
3. Place a black olive slice into each cheese eye ball.
4. Serve in a small dish with skewers for picking up each ball.
Substitutions
- Any kind of mozza ball will work, marinated or not. Just be sure to drain the cheese balls before using them.
- Prosciutto gives the eyes the best “creepy” look but other thinly sliced deli meat will work too.
- Instead of black olives try green olives, red peppers or mushroom pieces.
Tips & tricks
- These Halloween cheese appetizers may be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.
- Serve these cheese balls with skewers or toothpicks on an appie platter or add them to spaghetti to create a delicious Halloween dinner.
- Be sure to use a bowl or container to serve these on otherwise they start to fall apart.
- Alternately you may use a toothpick to attach the prosciutto to the mozza ball to keep it in place.
