I love making themed food for any and every holiday! Whether it is for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, or a favorite movie or video game, there is something about themed food that just tastes better, don’t you think? Besides, it’s just plain fun getting creative with food!

Too busy to make this right away? Pin it for later! Pin this post to your favorite board on Pinterest and it will be there when you’re ready!

Halloween parties are especially fun to create food for. When the boys were younger, there were class parties to bring Halloween treats to.

Now that they are older, I may not be making snacks to share in the classroom, but I still love making fun holiday-themed treats for them to enjoy here at home.

Tips and tricks:

  • To help keep the sides of the cups clean, first scoop the pudding into a freezer or piping bag. Then cut the tip of the bag off and pipe the pudding into the cups.
  • I think using instant pudding in this recipe is a great mom hack for saving time, but you can also make your own homemade pudding from scratch if you want.
  • Don’t have Oreo crumbs on hand? Make them yourself using regular Oreo cookies or your favorite chocolate sandwich cookies.  A food processor is the easiest way to get even, fine crumbs. Usually I just throw the cookies into a zip-top plastic bag and use a rolling pin to crush them up.

  • In a large bowl, mix Cool Whip in with the prepared pudding. The whipped topping with give the pudding mixture a more mousse-like consistency.
  • Instead of individual cups, make one large worms in dirt graveyard in a cake pan. Add cookie tombstones, candy pumpkins, and any other spooky elements you want.
  • You could also make a Halloween dirt cake. Make a cake using your favorite recipe or a boxed mix. Use the pudding and cookie crumbs as the icing. Don’t forget the Halloween sprinkles!
  • Make these fun Halloween dirt cups ahead of time. Store them in the fridge in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap until ready to serve.
