DIY Hocus Pocus bookmarks!
We are super excited for the release of the new Hocus Pocus movie this year! To celebrate I have created all sorts of nostalgic treats; like these Sanderson sister rice krispies, Hocus Pocus punch, spellbook brownies, Jinx the cat cookies, zombie Billy chocolate dipped pretzels and a whole Hocus Pocus dessert board.
A Hocus Pocus refresher:
The Sanderson sisters are the main characters of the 1993 film, Hocus Pocus. They run amuck with their evil spell book and henchmen Billy Butcherson while hunting children and turning one into Binx, an immortal black cat.
I am always on the lookout for easy crafts to do with the kids! These felt bookmarks make the perfect craft for Halloween. Let me show you how to put them together…

All of my craft supplies were found at Dollarama! But you could order them online using the links above as well.
How to create a Felt Hocus Pocus Craft:
1. Gather all of the supplies. Download and print the Hocus Pocus template sheet.
2. Measure three rectangles that are 2” wide by 11” long on cream felt using a ruler and marker. Cut out with scissors, inside the lines, so you have a clean finished project.
3. Using straight pins, attach Mary’s dress to burgundy felt, Winifred’s dress to green felt, and Sarah’s dress to purple felt. Cut out the patterns with scissors.
You can also trace patterns onto the colored craft felt with a marker, then cut out with scissors.
4. Using straight pins, attach Mary’s hair to black felt, Winifred’s hair to orange felt, and Sarah’s hair to gold felt. Cut out the patterns with scissors.
5. Assemble the felt bookmarks using the cream felt rectangles as the base, then attaching the dresses and hair with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Tip: You can also use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
6. Flip each Sanderson sister over and trim any excess cream felt with scissors. Winifred’s collar and the top of Mary and Sarah’s hair for example.
Tip: Low temperature glue works best with felt.
7. Using the pattern sheet as your guide add the Sanderson sisters’ lips to the bookmarks with red dimensional fabric paint. Add a birthmark to Mary and Sarah with black dimensional fabric paint.
TIP: Use a scrap piece of paper to test the glitter glue and dimensional fabric paint before applying to the bookmarks.
8. Add stitching on the three dresses with gold glitter glue. Set aside to dry completely before using.
Sanderson Sister Bookmarks!
Super adorable right?! I love their individual hair styles and the little details of the mouth and beauty marks.
Felt sheets can be found at the craft store, but you can also use craft foam, colored cardstock or construction paper.
