We are super excited for the release of the new Hocus Pocus movie this year! To celebrate I have created all sorts of nostalgic treats; like these Sanderson sister rice krispies, Hocus Pocus punch, spellbook brownies, Jinx the cat cookies, zombie Billy chocolate dipped pretzels and a whole Hocus Pocus dessert board.
A Hocus Pocus refresher:
The Sanderson sisters are the main characters of the 1993 film, Hocus Pocus. They run amuck with their evil spell book and henchmen Billy Butcherson while hunting children and turning one into Binx, an immortal black cat.
WHAT ARE RICE KRISPIE TREATS?
Rice krispie treats are primarily made of rice krispies cereal, melted butter and mini marshmallows. These Halloween treats are made even easier by simply using pre made cereal treats, dipping parts of them in chocolate and then using candy hearts for lips.

Ingredients:
- Six Original Rice Krispie Squares (or homemade)
- 1 oz Yellow Candy Melts
- 1 oz Orange Candy Melts
- 1 oz Black Candy Melts
- Red heart sprinkles
Directions:
1. Cut three 2″ circles out of rice krispie squares. Shape the other three rice krispies into the Sanderson sister hair pieces. Use a sharp knife to carefully trim and shape each one.
2. In separate small bowls, melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely smooth.
Alternately, you can also use this new Wilton Chocolate Melting Pot that keeps the chocolate melted at the perfect temperature!
3. Use the orange chocolate melts to coat Winifreds rice krispie hair. It may be helpful to insert a toothpick into the rice krispie to hold on to.
4. Place the chocolate hair onto parchment paper.
5. Press one of the rice krispie circles into the base of the hair.
6. Repeat with the remaining two sisters.
7. Allow the chocolate to harden completely for at least one hour before moving the treats.
8. Add red heart “lips” to each face with a dab of melted chocolate.
TIPS FOR MAKING THESE EASY HALLOWEEN TREATS:
- Use Wilton candy melts for best results, the wafer chocolate melts the best. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to other melted chocolate chips to help them melt and pour better.
- Lay the chocolate covered treat on a parchment lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
- Place the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to completely cool before serving.
How long do rice krispies last?
Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to one month at room temperature. They can also be stored in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting or in the freezer for months.
CLASSIC RICE KRISPIE TREATS RECIPE:
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Directions:
1. In large saucepan melt butter over medium-low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat.
2. Add rice krispie cereal. Stir until the cereal mixture is well combined.
3. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
