It’s that time of year again. The weather is starting to cool and the air is crisp. Leaves are changing colors. Pumpkin spice lattes and other fall flavors are everywhere. Comfy, cozy clothes make a comeback. I love this season!

These pumpkin pie twists are the perfect fall dessert. They would make a great addition to any Thanksgiving dinner, but they are so easy and quick to make that you can whip them up for an after school snack too.

Using Pillsbury crescent rolls as the base for these pumpkin twists is such an easy way to save time. I love products that cut down on the work I have to do in the kitchen, don’t you?

Pumpkin Pie Twist Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Pillsbury crescent roll dough
  • Pumpkin butter (from Trader Joe’s)*
  • Butter, melted
  • White sugar
  • Powdered sugar
  • Milk

*pumpkin pie filling may be used instead of the pumpkin butter. You can also use pumpkin puree that has been mixed with a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice.

Instructions

  1. Open and unroll the crescent dough.

2. Press or roll the precut seams of the dough together to form a solid sheet of dough.

3. Spread the pumpkin butter out over the dough in an even layer.

4. Cut the dough into 1/2” strips using a pizza cutter.

5. Twist each strip and place onto a cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment.

6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.

7. Bake for 10-12 mins, or until golden brown, at 350 degrees F.

8. In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar and just enough milk to create a glaze.

9. Remove pie twists from the oven and drizzle with icing.

Variations

  • Use crescent dough sheets if you can find them. This saves you from having to seal up the seams.
  • Sheets of pie dough can be substituted for the crescent dough.
  • For an even more decadent treat, add a layer of cream cheese with the pumpkin butter to create a pumpkin cheesecake filling.
  • Instead of the glaze, coat the twists in a generous amount of cinnamon sugar.
