snowman block ornament

This adorable snowman block ornament is fun to create with the kids.  Most of the things needed to make it can be found in your craft room!

I am so excited that the holiday season is upon us.  I am usually that crazy person who starts to decorate for Christmas on November 1st.  For us Canadians, Thanksgiving was in October so the focus turns to everything red, green and festive!

We have been making all sorts of snowmen crafts like these simple snowman ornaments, alphabet block snowman and even a snowman magnet craft. Today I have the cutest Snowman Block Ornament to share with you…

Snowman Block Ornament

I love crafts that require very few special materials or supplies because then you can make them at any time.  My kids know that they can go into the craft room and find all sorts of things that will help them get creative!

Keeping things organized into bins and stocked up is always helpful because then they can easily find the supplies that they may need.  We tend to run out of hot glue sticks most often and I am always having to make a trip to the dollarstore to pick up more!

This post contains affiliate links.

Supplies needed:

  • alphabet blocks
  • acrylic paint
  • paint brush
  • scrap fabric
  • Mod Podge
  • picture hanger
  • twine

How to make this snowman block ornament:

All you need to make a snowman block ornament is an alphabet block {or wooden block}, acrylic paint, a picture hanger and some bakers twine.

Paint the wooden block white.

Create a snowman face with the acrylic paint.  Coat with Mod Podge, screw in the eye and add some bakers twine for hanging.

Voila!  An adorable snowman to add to the Christmas tree or gift wrap or just about any part of your decor!  We clearly love our Christmas crafting around here…

More crafting essentials for kid crafts:

  • We love using these Apple Barrel Acrylic Paints (aff link) to add bright color to all of our projects.
  • These paint brushes (aff link) are ideal for most craft surfaces and a great price!
  • This art supplies kit (aff link) is our favorite because it has everything we needed to get started.
  • This rolling storage cart (aff link) helps to keep our craft supplies organized.

The boys and I made a few of these guys to sell at a local craft fair this weekend.  We’ve been creating a ton of snowmen crafts and I seriously can not get enough!!

If you love this easy snowman craft, please give it a five star review and help me share it on Facebook and Pinterest!

It was self threading and I just screwed it in by hand.

Mine won’t go in :(. I have tried to use pliers but I have now broke two off in the block!! I’m guessing the blocks I am using are a harder wood since I had to buy blocks at hobby lobby that are just smooth wood not the kids blocks. Any idea a on how to attach a hanger that isn’t one of the eye hooks? I’m at a lose!
