Star Wars Imperial Popcorn

Star Wars Imperial Popcorn

Hello Star Wars fans!!!  At least… I hope you are… if you’re reading this post.  You know that we absolutely love Star Wars around here so when the boys turned 10 last month I couldn’t help but create a Star Wars themed snack bar for them!  This Star Wars Imperial Popcorn was a hit with all of the party people…

Star Wars Imperial Popcorn

I began my preparations by stopping at the Bulk Barn for goodies to add to our popcorn.  I was on the hunt for all things blue, silver and black.  Needless to say, those can be hard to find in candy form.  Lucky for me the Bulk Barn was cool with having me pick out just the blue M&Ms and just the black licorice goodies otherwise this endeavor may have cost a lot of money.

I then air popped about 10 cups of popcorn and was ready to combine it all together to create a very imperial treat.

Creating sticky popcorn is similar to making rice krispie treats in that you simply melt butter in a medium sauce pan, add mini marshmallows then add the popcorn.  After allowing the mixture to cool a bit I then threw in all of the extra bits.  Pretzels, silver balls, blue M&Ms, peanuts and black licorice.

Be sure to allow the mixture to cool before adding the candy otherwise things tend to melt and become too gooey to look like any kind of Star Wars inspired creation.
